How we make money
We built Nediva on a simple promise: a donor giving $100 should be able to deliver $100 to a verified nonprofit. We charge a flat 2.5% on every gift, and we invite donors to cover that fee themselves at checkout so the nonprofit nets the full amount. Most donors do. Below is the entire revenue model in writing.
The single fee: 2.5%
Nediva's platform fee is 2.5% of every donation. Half (or less) of what most fundraising platforms quietly take. Stripe's card-processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) is separate and is Stripe's, not ours — that cost exists on every card transaction anywhere on the internet.
For donors
At the moment of giving, we ask whether you'd like to cover the 2.5% platform fee. The checkbox is on by default. When checked, your stated gift is delivered in full to the nonprofit and you pay a small amount on top to cover both Nediva's fee and Stripe's card-processing cost. When unchecked, our 2.5% comes out of the gift instead — the nonprofit receives slightly less, never more than you intended to give.
You always see the exact amount you'll be charged AND the exact amount the nonprofit will receive before you confirm. Nothing is ever rounded against you.
For nonprofits
There's no monthly fee, no setup fee, no per-seat fee, and no contract. You can join, post, accept donations, run campaigns, use the donor CRM, generate tax receipts, and embed Give buttons on your own site — all free.
The only cost is the 2.5% platform fee per gift. When the donor covers it, the full stated amount lands in your Stripe-connected account. When the donor declines, the 2.5% is deducted before the rest reaches you. Either way, the math is shown to the donor before they confirm.
Where our revenue comes from
- The 2.5% platform fee on every successful donation — covered by donors at checkout when they opt in, taken from the gift when they decline. This is our entire current revenue stream.
- Future: optional pro tools for large fundraising teams. Eventually, nonprofits running large-scale campaigns may opt into a premium tier — advanced analytics, white-label embedded widgets, AI-assisted donor insights, larger matching pools, priority support. The core platform stays free forever.
What we don't do
- No ads. Ever. We will never run advertising, sponsored posts, or paid placement of any kind.
- No selling donor data.Your data isn't our product.
- No hidden fees. The 2.5% is the only fee. There is no monthly cost, no per-transaction surcharge, no payout fee, no withdrawal fee.
- No payment-method routing kickbacks.We don't earn referral fees from PayPal, Cash App, or any other rail you use.
- No skim from the gift when the donor covered the fee. If the donor opts in, the nonprofit gets the full stated amount — period.
If our model ever changes
We'll tell you in writing, with at least thirty days' notice, before any change to the 2.5% fee or its terms. We will never increase our take without informing every donor and every nonprofit on the platform first. This commitment lives in our Terms.
